Tesco April 2018 - July 2019

Customer Assistant Nights

Whilst working at Tesco my responsibilities involved stocking the shelves and making sure to clean and tidy as we work to uphold the cleanliness standard that customers expect when they come in to do their shopping. It is really important to have good time managment working in retail due to the quantity of stock that needs to go out in a single shift. this has given me lots of experience and practise managing this.

Domino's Pizza September 2015 - March 2018

In-Store Assistant

Whilst working at domino's my responsibilities would rotate around the different jobs that are required when working in a kitchen. Each shift the staff members would change from which role we are doing so that we are all capable of performing all tasks within the store. These tasks would involve customer interactions, answering phones to take orders, creating pizzas and boxing them up ready for delivery. During the late nights shifts that we do, we will be tasked with cleaning the whole store at the end of the night so that everything in the shop is sanitized, cleaned and safe to be used around food again the next working day.

Staffordshire University August 2015 - September 2015

House Keeper

I have worked with the university accommodation services to clean and prepare the halls of residence ready for when the new student start moving in at the start of the semester. This involved cleaning numerous rooms. Kitchens, bathrooms and hallways through the accommodation so that it is to an exceptional standard.

Who Needs Design July 2014 - June 2015

Junior Web Developer

Working as a contractor for Who Needs Design where when they had an excess of work or didn’t have the time to do some work they would pass on the back end development work to me. This involved working from home using my knowledge of development to create a functional dynamic web site to the clients standards.

BJB Lift Trucks / Train 2 Work February 2014 - April 2014

Web Developer

In my free time away from college I took up the opportunity to go work for Train 2 Work which is a small company linked with BJB Lift Trucks that requested me to assist in modernising their current website and adding multiple features to make it easier to navigate the site. I created an interactive map for the company website that aloud users to see how to travel between the split company BJB and T2W. This showed all; walking, bus, car and bike routes and with an additional pop up feature allowing to see more contact information for the company that was selected.

After creating a total of 4 Websites and worked for a total of 24 hours over the 3 days i was told that i placed 4th in the Country for the World Skills Advanced Competition 2014, Because the mark gap between me and third place was tiny i was given a highly commended award.

World Skills UK Web Development Advanced Heat

May 2014 @ World Skills UK

Winner of the World Skills UK Web Development Advanced Heat that took place in Northumberland which gave me enough points to rank me #1 in the country got the heats.

I traveled down the Northumberland college to compete in the World Skills UK Web Development Advanced Heat to test my skills again. As i competed and got through the heats last year in the easier competition i was slightly confident about doing well this year.

When it came to actually doing the task we was given assets and promotional materials for a new music company that will be promoting new bands or bands that people hadn't really heard of before and make a website for them.

We had a total of 4 hours to do this and a long side the website we also needed to submit a design documentation. This got me a little worried and im not strong with creating design documentation's for websites but im very strong with web programming. It was recommended to spend the first 4 hours creating the documentation and then use the remaining 2 hours to see how much a website you can put together.

I spent 1 hour in the morning quickly putting some designs together and then made some basic template pages in HTML and CSS before we went on a lunch break.

As soon as we came back i sat and created the entire website i had planned including JavaScript enhancements on the contact and newsletter forms and had the whole thing completed with an hour and half of time left on the clock. It only took me an hour and half this means to put together to entire website, when finishing and walking out with such a large amount of time left a few of the competitors were shocked and tried working harder all the way till the last second to try get there best done.

I am extremely happy with the outcome of coming first in this UK Heat and am hoping that just like last year i will be given the opportunity to travel to and compete in The Skills Shows in Birmingham.

World Skills UK Web Development Intermediate Semi-Finals

Nov 2013 @ World Skills UK

After all of the heats had been completed for the World Skills UK Web Development Intermediate Heat 2013 all of the competitors where put into a leaderboard and the top 8 got to go to The Skills Show which is a 3 day event that took place in Birmingham and compete for the chance to go to Sao Paulo in Brazil for the World Skills World Finals.

I found out that i had placed 6th which means i was given to opportunity to travel down to Birmingham and compete against the other top scoring competitors in the country.

These 3 days where an amazing experience for me as it was also my first experience of being alone and away from home for more than a day, i would love to take part in such an event again. Hopefully next year when it comes to the heats i will do great and have a second opportunity to go down to The Skills Show and compete once again.

After creating a total of 5 Websites and worked for a total of 24 hours over the 3 days i was told that i placed 6th in the Country for the World Skills Intermediate Competition 2013.

World Skills UK Web Development Intermediate Heat

April 2013 @ World Skills UK

Winner of the World Skills UK Web Development Intermediate Heat that took place in Blackburn.

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to travel down to Blackburn with my college tutor and some other students to compete in the World Skills UK Web Development Competition. This was a great experience and not only did it it test my skills it was a huge confidence boost for getting out of the comfort zone and doing activities that i wouldn't normally participate in.

This competition i had to manipulate a website that had already been created purely with tables so that it would sit correctly and look appealing to viewers without the tables and with standard HTML layout tags. The total time that was given for this was 4 hours, i managed to get it completed in just under 3 and came first place in the heat.
